We are seeking a project manager with marine biodiversity conservation or relevant policy expertise to join our team. The protection of the Great Barrier Reef’s species and ecosystems while providing for a range of acceptable uses is a key responsibility of our agency.  

The position helps develop and implement policies, plans and projects to manage and conserve the Reef’s biodiversity. By providing policy and biological expertise the position assists the agency in ensuring use of the Reef’s marine resources is ecologically sustainable.

The Duties

With a focus on enabling effective management and protection of marine biodiversity within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and World Heritage Area:
1. Lead or contribute to activities that develop, implement and review policy, plans and projects related to biodiversity conservation and ecologically sustainable use of marine resources.
2. Liaise, consult and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to progress activities and projects, share knowledge, and promote agency messages around biodiversity.
3. Provide accurate policy and technical advice on conservation issues and ecosystem-based management approaches, and represent the Reef Recovery section as required.  
4. Manage project and activity documents and business processes, including financial management, record keeping and reporting.
5. Contribute to innovation initiatives and business improvement strategies within the agency.

4. You have an eye for both the ‘forest’ and the ‘trees'.
5. You thrive under pressure and don’t get flustered when faced with challenges or competing priorities.

Do you have:
* Knowledge and understanding of the management and conservation of biodiversity in marine ecosystems?
* Policy and project development and implementation experience?
* The ability to prioritise and deliver tasks on time and to a high standard?
* Relevant tertiary qualifications or professional experience? E.g. in marine ecology or natural resource, protected area or fisheries management.
