Under the guidance of the REC’s executive director and senior management, and in particular the head of the Executive Director’s Office, the project development coordinator will design, implement and ensure a strategic, results-oriented and coordinated approach to the mobilisation of resources from traditional and non-traditional resource partners. Within the context of the REC’s mission, strategies and work plans, the project development coordinator will contribute to a coherent resource mobilisation plan to address potential resource partners, actively liaise with internal and external partners in the implementation of this plan, and ensure systematic and transparent reporting on resource mobilisation and related communication activities and results.

The project development coordinator, together with the other team members, will assume the responsibilities of: (a) project manager, to ensure that all relevant resource mobilisation activities are developed, coordinated and implemented in the most efficient and effective manner in line with quality management standards and a results-based approach; (b)substantive expert contributor, in developing customised resource mobilisation strategies and policies, tools and mechanisms for implementation; (c) adviser to the organisation on resource mobilisation and related communication aspects; (d) focal point, to ensure the full alignment of resource mobilisation activities with internal colleagues and partners; and (e)advocate, to promote the REC’s activities to potential donors and partners.

Experience required

 
  • Familiarity with and an interest in the environmental, social and economic policies of the EU, particularly in the Central and Eastern European region.
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant work experience and a proven track record of mobilising resources in the private and public sectors, preferably in the field of sustainable development.
  • Solid subject-matter expertise in developing and managing projects and programmes (project design, implementation and business strategy alignment; and country/regional contexts and practices).
  • Ability to develop and adapt innovative approaches and replicable strategies for resource mobilisation through the analysis of trends and experience and the consideration of lessons learned.
  • A working knowledge of technical/professional principles and concepts, combined with an in-depth knowledge of team objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and representation skills in relation to a wide spectrum of resource partners.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of a language from the REC’s beneficiary region, particularly Central and Eastern Europe, is an asset.
  • General computer and administrative skills, including knowledge of spreadsheet applications and database maintenance.

Education required

 

A college/university degree in, or a higher degree with a specialisation in, business administration, public policy, political science, environmental sciences, law, or other relevant field.

Skills required

 
  • Following developments and strategies in the donor community (bilateral and multilateral donors), in addition to mapping and identifying current and potential donors.
  • Establishing and broadening relations with traditional or non-traditional donors and financial partners and analysing information on their funding priorities and trends.
  • Developing the REC’s resource mobilisation capacity by establishing a sound, coordinated and long-term methodological approach to resource mobilisation.
  • Regularly screening websites and funding sources on the basis of predefined criteria and strategic priorities.
  • Organising fundraising activities such as donor briefings and presentations, and preparing briefs and other documents explaining donor policies and trends.
  • Liaising with project staff responsible for the preparation of project proposals and concept notes.
  • Providing administrative support during the preparation of project proposals and concept notes in line with specific donor requirements and the REC’s internal policies.
  • Keeping track of submitted project proposals and concept notes.
  • Preparing internal and external reports on the REC’s resource mobilisation activities.
  • Monitoring the provision of transparent, high-quality targeted reports for donors in keeping with the respective agreements.
  • Maintaining an archive and undertaking responsibility for information management within the unit.

This full-time position is based at the REC’s head office in Szentendre, Hungary. The position is for a fixed period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
