Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a non-profit institution known for its rigorous and scientific policy research and advocacy on environmental issues, is looking for aProgramme Officer for its Mining& Environment Programme. The person will be working in Mining division of Impact AssessmentTeam. The objective of the programme is to work with different stakeholders and push for sustainable mining policy and practices in India, South Asia and Africa. The job responsibilities would include: • Research on best practices in environmental management of mine includingmine planning, mine reclamation and rehabilitation • Evaluation of environment impact assessment reportsrelated to mining projects • Writing reports and articles on mining policy, regulations and practices • Designing and organising training on best practices in environmental management of mines Candidate must be willing to travel extensively and work under challenging deadlines. Competency & qualification: Bachelor degree in Mining engineering with 5-7 years of working experience. Candidate with Post graduate degree would be given preference. Competency in English speaking and writing skills is must. The candidate must have working knowledge of mine planning, mine closure and environment management in mines. Understanding of environmental impact assessment, environment monitoring and compliance related to the mining sector would be an added advantage. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
