Role

Program Officer: Technology Transfer

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Improve small hydropower development inChinaby supporting the existing team with communication to other small hydropower technology centers worldwide with a special focus on the promotion of new technology.
  • Facilitate technology transfer betweenChinaand IN-SHP member countries and the use of appropriate technology for rural electrification projects in poor areas.
  • Help find international sponsors and secure funding for small hydropower cooperation betweenChinaand IN-SHP member countries.
  • Assist with project management of bilateral / multilateral projects withinChina.
  • Provide and develop proposal development inputs and grant reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

At least a University Bachelors Degree or at least 3 years experience in one of the following areas: Chinese Affairs, international or development economics, international relations or engineering.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of renewable energy sector.
  • Excellent communication skills to maintain relations with bilateral donors institutions.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and deliver tasks on time.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • English native speaker
  • Fluency in written and spoken French, Spanish is preferred

Ideal Skills

These skills are not essential in obtaining this role but will be highly valued:

  • Project management experience.
  • Experience of working in a not-for-profit organisation for at least one year, preferably in the field of environment / social development and poverty alleviation/ international aid (preferably in NGOs or international organisations).
  • Background knowledge of renewable energy sector inChinadesirable.
  • Basic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese

Salary and Visa Information

The role here is classified as “voluntary”. Applications will therefore have to apply for the “F” Business Visa generally. Here at the ICSHP, whilst we cannot influence the outcome of any VISA decision, we do provide administrative support for your APPLICATION.

The successful candidate will be provided, in return for full time hours (8.30-16.30 Monday to Friday) the following:

  • Free and secure accommodation at the center with kitchen facilities
  • Personal office space equipped with desk, computer, internet connection and telephone
  • One free meal Monday to Friday
  • Basic pocket money to meet additional needs
  • Start-up support on arrival (in obtaining a telephone, bank account)

It is important that given the voluntary nature of the position that any applicants have the necessary finance to purchase the flight and obtain the “F” visa as the center does not reimburse these costs.
