Principal Geologist

Areas of responsibility

As Principal Geologist, you will be responsible for licence and regional geological evaluations and full cycle exploration including prospect generation and evaluation of volume and risk.

Furthermore, your key duties will include:

• projects ranging from large scale regional studies to focussed discovery evaluations
• represent the company in licence meetings
• support and help direct other project teams with Peer Assist, Peer, and Risk Reviews on an ad-hoc basis
• mentoring of junior employees

Your profile

It is essential that you will have a bachelor degree or equivalent in Geoscience.  Ideally you will have a relevant MSc or Phd qualification.  Furthermore, it is essential that you will have in depth technical knowledge coupled with knowledge of prospect generation and evaluation of volume and risks.   Ideally, you will demonstrate a good understanding of Basin Evaluation and Petroleum Systems. 

You will demonstrate significant practical working experience, with some time spent with an operator.  Furthermore, you will demonstrate experience of exploration life cycle from prospect generation to well planning and discovery appraisal. In addition, you will have experience in taking opportunities through Peer Review and making recommendations to senior management.  You will ideally have general North Sea/Atlantic Margin experience and experience from a variety of stratigraphic and structural settings in other hydrocarbon provinces.  Experience of mentoring more inexperienced employees will be advantageous.

You will be a competent Petrel user. It is essential that you are  highly motivated and an excellent communicator.   Furthermore, you will be a creative problem solver and a team player.  Ideally, you will be familiar with other geological interpretation packages and software products and familiar with statistical methods for assessment of risk and resource.

You will demonstrate a willingness to travel independently to our other sites and partner sites as required.
