Job title: Principal Engineer

Location: Birmingham

Salary:  £32k – 40k DOE

Job Summary:

We are assisting our client in the search for a talented Principal Engineer to join their successful and busy, Birmingham based Development team. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of Land Development portfolios throughout the full project cycle. This is an exciting role for an experienced Engineer, ready to further develop their career, to play a key role in the future direction and development of the team.

Responsibilities:

The Principal Engineer will;

  • Take a technical lead on the design for UK and International development projects covering drainage, roads, flooding, utilities and sustainability project disciplines
  • Manage staff and lead projects within a small project team, taking overall responsibility for project delivery
  • Prepare and review technical reports and specifications
  • Assist senior management in the preparation of technical and financial proposals.
  • Liaise with necessary agencies and stakeholders
  • Have some business acumen with the ability to contribute  towards market development
  • Maintain existing client relationships whilst working to secure business from new clients.

Qualifications / Experience:

 Essential Skills

  • Relevant degree.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status.
  • Membership of appropriate institute (MICE, MCIHT or MCIWEM)
  • Demonstrable experience of project management within a consultancy environment
  • Willingness to travel for work.
  • Experienced staff management
  • PDS or MX and CAD at advanced level.

Desirable skills

  • Some knowledge of other work streams including transportation, sustainable energy, geotechnical and geo-environmental and river and ground modelling would be an advantage to be successful in this role.
