Job Summary:

 

An opportunity exists for a Principal Ecologist with experience of large-scale infrastructure projects to join a supportive and dynamic environmental consultancy in the Leicestershire team.

 

You will be a key member of the Ecology Team, actively managing a wide range of work including field surveys, EIA and HRA projects.  This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic ecologist to further their career in Ecological Management.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

As a Principal Ecologist you will:

  • Manage EIA and HRA projects
  • Deliver contracts on time and to budget
  • Attend client and design team meetings and public consultation events
  • Give well rounded advice to clients and communicate with statutory bodies, planning authorities and NGOs on wildlife issues in the planning process
  • Provide input to tender and winning work

 

Qualifications:

 

As a Principal Ecologist you will have:

  • A Degree in ecology or relevant subject
  • Full membership (or eligibility for full membership) of IEEM
  • Chartered Environmentalist is desirable but not essential
  • Extensive experience in covering botanical or faunal surveys, assessments, EPS licensing and mitigation design including experience within an ecological consultancy
  • Extensive experience of ecological input to EIA; Experience of HRA desirable
  • Excellent fieldwork, report writing, proof-reading and communication skills
  • 1+ EPS licence
  • Excellent knowledge of UK Ecological legislation and the planning process and experience of advising clients through these processes
  • A demonstrable track record of successful staff and project management
  • Full driving licence
