Job title: Principal Ecologist

Job Summary:

We are supporting a leading consultancy in their search for a Principal Ecologist to join their expanding Environmental team in Staffordshire. As a key member of the ecology team you will assist with the delivery of UK wide projects across a variety of sectors; residential, commercial, infrastructure, renewables, utilities, minerals and waste projects. 

 

The successful candidate will have proven consultancy experience and a track record of delivering high quality ecological projects.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful consultancy and play a key role in expanding their ecological workload. 

 

Responsibilities:

As Principal Ecologist, your brief will include;

  • Ecological assessments for input to EIA’s
  • Protected species surveying, licensing and associate reporting
  • Provision of ecological advice to clients
  • Project management duties including the control of finances and resources
  • Contributing to the mentoring and development of junior team members and assisting the Associate Director with winning new business.

 

Qualifications / Experience:

The successful candidate will;

  • Be qualified to degree level in ecology (or relevant discipline)
  • Be a holder of 1+ protected species license and have extensive experience of all protected species issues
  • Be a Full IEEM member
  • Have at least 8 years demonstrable consultancy experience
  • Have a competent understanding of ecological field investigations and methodology
  • Be an experienced project manager and hold a good track record of the management of more junior team members.
