Job Ref: 11535 Job title: Principal Ecologist Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire Rate: £33,000+ DOE Term: Permanent Job Summary: An opportunity exists for an experienced ecologist to join a successful and expanding team, playing a key role in ensuring the business continues to go from strength to strength. Our client offers environmental planning and design consultancy services so as a principal ecologist, you would be providing ecological consultancy services as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities / Accountabilities: Our client are keen to maintain senior level input to all projects so you will be spending a significant part of your week completing chargeable objectives. You will also play an important role supporting the current partner in securing local work and meeting other business development objectives, whilst managing multidisciplinary projects and providing assistance to other project managers and team members as appropriate.
Importantly, you will be responsible for ensuring all ecological technical content being delivered is correct and sound and is appropriate to relevant legislation, policy or good practice.
As part of our client’s culture, they like to ensure that senior team members keep a hand in with ecological surveys so there will be some opportunity to get out into the field and undertake surveys.
Qualifications / Experience: In addition to a relevant degree and proven ecological consultancy experience, an ability to demonstrate effective project management and client care are essential to be successful in this role. You will have proven experience of winning and managing complex multidisciplinary projects and a track record of building strong relationships with both clients and colleagues. As the team is in an expansion phase, experience of winning repeat business and pursuing new client prospects is crucial. As the team continues to develop, experience of successful staff management and mentoring junior team members will also be an essential asset for this role.
