Principal Ecologist - Bristol

Outline of role: 
 Grontmij is seeking to recruit a principal grade ecologist to join their Environment group. The successful candidate will be expected to develop business and manage the delivery of current ecology workload. They will also be responsible for running an established team of ecologists based in our Bristol office.

Qualifications required: 
 We would expect the successful candidate will have as a minimum an honours degree in ecology or related subject, and be a full member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management. They are also likely to be a Chartered Environmentalist.

Experience required:
 The candidate should have a minimum of seven years experience in environmental consultancy, sound technical knowledge and a proven track record of project management and work winning as part of multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualities required: 
The successful candidate will have an excellent range of protected species skills, including survey and mitigation design experience for bats, badgers, great crested newts, reptiles and white-clawed crayfish.

Additionally, they will have experience of completing ecology sections of BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes assessments, as well as producing ecology chapters within statutory EIAs using IEEM ecological impact assessment methods.

The role will require the candidate to maintain the delivery of high quality work for existing clients and to promote our services to grow the business. An enthusiastic, professional approach to ensuring project delivery on time and within budget is essential.
