My client, an international award winning multidisciplinary consultant are looking for a highly motivated Principal Consultant to join their contaminated land section of their busy and successful Geo-environment team .

The Job

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record in project management of contaminated land investigation, assessment and remediation along with excellent interpersonal skills and a sound technical base.

Candidates should have upwards of 8 years’ work experience in site investigation, risk assessment and remediation which ideally would include a bias towards gasworks and National Grid projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity which will provide the right candidate an opportunity to develop existing skills on some complex and demanding projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include the following.

• Scoping, tendering and management of site investigations up to £100k and remediation projects up to £1M
• Client liaison
• Reports to a senior member of the Geo-environment discipline
• Line management and mentoring of junior technical staff
• Review of technical reports
• Financial accountability of projects

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential
• First degree in geology, environmental science, civil engineering or related subject
• At least 7 years’ experience in contaminated land investigation, assessment and management to include gasworks
• Excellent Project Administration and management skills with knowledge of industry standard contracts to include NEC
• Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety legislation and the management of health and safety
• Excellent communication skills with demonstrable experience in coaching junior staff to develop their skills and abilities and client liaison
• Excellent written and reporting skills
• Knowledge and experience in environmental management as applied to ground investigation and remediation projects
• Commercial awareness to include internal financial management and tendering
• Awareness and understanding of generic and detailed QRA modelling packaging
• Awareness of UK available remediation techniques and experience of undertaking Options Appraisals
• Full UK driving licence

• Second relevant degree
• National Grid Competency (Remediation & Site Investigation Supervisor)
