Power supply during HV outages or during commissioning of wind turbines

During power outages and during commissioning of wind turbines there is a need for supplying power to the wind turbines with an external power supply. The project concerns a thorough  investigation of different power supply solutions for this purpose analysing and evaluating different scenarios for provision of external power supply considering the power requirements from the wind turbine..

The project will consist of the following task:

 -       Investigate the power requirements during the different operations conditions of a turbine not producing power.

-       Investigate the different power solution available or under development ; which can meet these requirements.

-       Make an economical calculation of the different scenarios and possible solution.

• On each wind turbine
• Central in wind farm

Look into the possibilities and control issues when using wind turbines to provide backup power for other interconnected wind turbines possibly in combination with an external power supply, such as a diesel generator connected to one wind turbine (wind-diesel islanded system).
