Placement Programmer

1. 8-10 week placement for a programmer

We are looking for an able programmer who can fit into a new environment quickly and communicate effectively with colleagues. The programmer will be required to work on projects providing utilities for CERC's air quality modelling software and facilitate the release of new products, for example:

• new utility to merge two proprietary format data files, probably in VB.NET;
• troubleshooting release builds on different Windows platforms;
• testing existing utilities with new versions of ArcGIS, MapInfo & Surfer;
• enabling CERC’s own Mapping program to plot contours, link to Google Earth and ArcGIS Explorer and interact with multiple models.  This will use VB6.

We use version control software and have a change control and peer review process. The placement will be at our offices opposite Kings College on Kings Parade.

We particularly want to know about programming you have carried out, other than course work.
