Job Description
The Joint Global Research Institute (JGCRI) at the University of Maryland, College Park is seeking an international energy/economic intern with expertise in clean energy and climate change. The researcher would join an interdisciplinary team conducting research on climate change and potential solutions. Research areas would likely include international energy and emissions policies, energy efficiency and other climate mitigation technologies, financing of clean energy, and economic, technological and policy drivers for emission trends in specific countries, such as China, India, Ukraine and Russia. The intern researcher may split his or her time between internationally-focused efforts on climate change mitigation and economic analysis using JGCRI¿s computer-based, ¿integrated assessment¿ modeling systems that combine models of the socioeconomic and technological determinants of greenhouse gas emissions with models of the Earth system response. .
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must be currently enrolled/matriculated in a PhD program at an accredited college. Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. All staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States. .
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have experience in international energy issues and in economic analysis. Knowledge of a foreign language (in particular Russian or Chinese) is a strong plus. Excellent writing and quantitative skills required. .
