For more than 20 years, Fresh Energy has transformed widely held economic and environmental ideas into smart energy policy. We’re the region’s only policy advocacy organization focused solely on energy. Our current efforts include increasing renewable energy, improving clean energy transmission, retiring coal plants, regulating carbon pollution, transitioning to a clean transportation system, and increasing energy efficiency in buildings, industry, and utilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help develop and implement Fresh Energy’s work on specific activities, primarily in the electricity markets policy program area, through the following:
  • Conduct research and analysis on specific areas of utility regulatory policies and actions, analyzing past utility performance and comparison with other states. Work requires significant written and oral information skills, including the synthesis and summary of complex regulatory documents and internal and shared work products.
  • Support, and lead some activities on, external projects that require collaborative relationships with partners, analysts, and regulatory staff.
  • Synthesize existing policy, legislative, legal, technical, and/or financial analyses as related to relevant policy proposals, changes, and approaches.
  • In collaboration with communications staff and as required for the project, occasionally create web content, social media content, or other policy information for broader dissemination.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

A completed or in-progress Master’s degree in a related field is preferred. Experience must include strong research and quantitative skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to bring together multiple partners in collaborative settings.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy and energy efficiency policies, and how these policies work with utility business models.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, including the ability to listen, understand, and engage others.
  • Proven analytic ability, creativity, and vision to identify new opportunities for policy advancement.
