Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund seek a part-time Outreach Coordinator who will organize programs to educate and mobilize Austin area residents about water conservation issues.  Clean Water Action is a national citizens’ organization working for clean, safe and affordable water, prevention of health-threatening pollution, creation of environmentally-safe jobs and businesses, and empowerment of people to make democracy work.

Clean Water Action has 1 million members nationally and 27,000 in Texas.  Clean Water Fund provides research, education, organizing, and technical assistance to strengthen grassroots environmental efforts around the country, promoting the public interest on issues related to water, natural resources, health, and a healthy economy.  Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund work together on selected campaigns and programs. 

Responsibilities

  • Organize non-fundraising door-to-door outreach in targeted communities to educate residentsabout water conservation; recruit, train, and assign outreach specialists; help prepare materials; coordinate with authorities as needed; monitor performance.
  • Help arrange for, schedule and conduct presentations on water conservation to neighborhood and homeowner associations in targeted parts of the Austin metro area.
  • Help develop materials to educate the public on water conservation techniques and the benefits of water conservation, including PowerPoint presentations, brochures/fact sheets.   
  • Assist in media outreach and public relations for the water conservation project.
  • Conduct other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience organizing community outreach efforts, recruiting, working with consultants and volunteers
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Versatile, quick learner; highly productive, hardworking, and reliable work style; able to handle multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines and get results.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with diverse people and community groups.
  • Knowledge of environmental issues and water conservation a plus.
  • Flexibility to adjust to project needs, work weekday evenings and weekends as needed.
