Job title: Ornithologist

Location: Scotland

Rate: £23,500

Term: 18 Month Contract (Maternity Cover)

Job Summary

Our client is a successful environmental consultancy with offices across the UK.  Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Ornithologist to join their Scottish Ecology team. 

You will have the opportunity to manage a wide variety of projects across a number of sectors.  We are particularly keen to hear from Ornithologists with a track record of successfully delivering both medium and large-scale renewable projects and EcIA reports. 

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Undertaking fieldwork, data analysis and statistical assessment of bird data, and producing technical reports based on these analyses
  • Preparation of technical reports for a range of medium and large-scale renewables projects
  • Liaison with clients/ stakeholders/ contractors and promotion of business to prospective clients/ partners

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Proven ecological consultancy experience (specifically ornithological)
  • Excellent avian survey and identification skills
  • Sound appreciation of the EcIA reporting process and relevant legislation and guidance
  • Experience of delivering renewables projects essential but experience across other sectors would be advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communicative skills
  • Willingness to travel is essential

All travel, lodging and car hire expenses will be reimbursed.
