Job title: Ornithologist

Job Summary:

Are you and ornithologist looking for an opportunity to work on a range of bird surveys associated with development, major infrastructure and conservation management? If you have excellent bird identification skills, good report-writing ability and a sound understanding of bird legislation and policy, then give us a call today.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Your brief will include;

  • Undertaking field surveys of sites awaiting development
  • Contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments and Habitats Regulation Assessments
  • Supervising graduate ecologists
  • Running your own ecology projects and briefing other colleagues.

Qualifications / Experience:

The successful candidate will;

  • Be a confident ornithologist, with experience in a variety of surveys, including Breeding Bird Surveys, “Brown and Shepherd” surveys, point counts and vantage point watching
  • Have experience in survey design
  • Be able to produce accurate surveys, with well-written reports and clearly-presented maps
  • Have experience of working in teams including designers, developers and regulators
  • Be competent and effective at articulating the survey results
  • Demonstrable experience of previously working in consultancy role is desirable.
