POST: Come Outside! Operations Support Officer
POST NO: 001032
LOCATION: All CCW offices considered
GRADE: Band B

BACKGROUND

Come Outside! is a £1.1 million 3 year Programme managed by CCW and funded by Big Lottery Fund, CCW, Forestry Commission Wales and Welsh Government. The Programme will enable communities to get involved in outdoor activities which will make a positive and lasting impact on their lives.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Implement procedures which support the Project Team to develop and manage the Come Outside! Programme to achieve the aim and outcomes, meeting all deadlines, as set out in the Come Outside! Project Plan.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting performance of the Programme. This will include the preparation of monthly budget monitoring reports and contributing to progress reports.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate systems and records ensuring compliance with funding organisations’ and CCW’s policies and procedures.
  • Organise meetings and events with external organisations to support the work of the Come Outside! Project Officers and provide accurate records of proceedings.
  • Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the Programme.
  • Assist in the contract management of consultants.
  • Ensure balance in your management of operations, resources and the people for whom you are responsible.
  • Ensure that your staff are well managed, well led, well motivated and continually learning.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others and comply with all health and safety legislation as appropriate.
  • Carry out and regularly review appropriate risk assessments, including stress, on all of your staff.
  • Behave in accordance with our corporate values.
  • Ensure you and your staff consistently meet the standards required to fulfil the service expectations of your internal and external customers/citizens and partners and constantly strive to improve.
  • Carry out other general duties as necessary.

To be considered for this post you will need to demonstrate the following competencies:

Essential

  1. Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  2. Experience of financial monitoring and reporting.
  3. Good at managing internal and external relationships and delivering quality service to external partners.
  4. Good problem solving skills, developing creative alternative solutions.
  5. Excellent written and verbal skills, communicating effectively at all levels.
  6. The ability to demonstrate initiative and commitment.
  7. Excellent IT skills
    - The ability to currently and legally drive a car in the UK
  8. An awareness of Welsh culture, and a positive attitude to linguistic and cultural diversity.
    - The ability to communicate with confidence in Welsh in some work situations

Desirable

1. An understanding of the community development sector in Wales
2. An understanding the environmental and outdoor activity sector in Wales
- Fluency in spoken Welsh

SALARY

The starting salary will be £19,679.00 a year.

STATUS

This is a fixed-term, pensionable full-time appointment of 37 hours a week for three years.

A single Environment Body for Wales is expected to come into being on 1 April 2013. Staff who are employed by Countryside Council for Wales immediately before that date are likely to be transferred to the new body.
