Description

Carbon Trust's Offshore Wind Accelerator Programme has issued an invitation to tender for the Serial Fabrication of Steel Foundations Project

Tender documents:

The overarching objective of this work is to reduce the cost of steel structures in time for Round 3 and to enable the industry to significantly increase production volumes (e.g., 200 per year in 30m-60m water depths). More specifically, the goal of this study is to compare the cost of fabricating bespoke foundations (as with oil and gas platforms which minimise steel) or moving towards serial manufacturing.

Also, the long-term results of this study should give OWA members a good estimate of the current and optimised cost of a steel jacket as well as confidence in the supply chain to meet Round 3 volume and quality requirements. This role provides an opportunity for the Contractor to work with industry experts to assess the potential cost savings from fabrication innovations.
