As a member of the Future Generations, Climate Change and Landscape Team within the Knowledge, Strategy and Planning Directorate, the post holder will project manage NRW’s Net Carbon Positive project to enable the organisation to assess its current net carbon impact and identify an approach to achieving Net Carbon Positive status, including the feasible timescale for attainment. The role will also involve ensuring the process of embedding climate change risk assessment and adaptation measures within NRW’s high risk activities is coordinated with the mitigation action. In performing the role the post holder will embrace the principles of sustainable development as our central organising principle and embed the principles of ecosystems services and natural resource management. Job Specific RequirementsEducated to degree level, or with equivalent in work experience and other qualifications, the post holder will be experienced in the management of complex projects that require the coordination of both substantial external contracts and internal organisation-wide engagement. You will have experience of organising and integrating the delivery of a diverse range of work by a wide range of individuals. A working knowledge of climate change science and policy, particularly in relation to mitigation and carbon management is desirable. You will need to be an excellent communicator, be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and be a strong team worker. You will possess proven ability and/or knowledge in the following areas:
Welsh Language requirements Due consideration has been given to the Welsh language requirements for the post and the existing skills within the team. Taking this into consideration the Welsh language skills required for the post are Level 1 - The ability to use basic Welsh conversational phrases (e.g. “bore da” – “good morning”) and to pronounce Welsh place names correctly. Knowledge/Qualifications Educated to degree level or equivalent in work experience and other qualifications plus be able to demonstrate the ability to quickly learn new skills and technical knowledge topics. Status This is a fixed-term, pensionable full-timeappointment of 37 hours a week until 31 March 2017. Salary £36,155 This role will be subject to a forthcoming Job Evaluation exercise and this may result in a change to the salary.
