The Department for Transport has awarded £3.81m to Hampshire County Council, the New Forest National Park Authority
and South Downs National Park Authority - together with the neighbouring highways authorities of Brighton & Hove, East Sussex,
West Sussex, Surrey and Wiltshire - for initiatives to reduce the impact of traffic on the two national parks.
The funding has been awarded through the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF), and will allow the authorities to focus on:-
Improving key public transport services into the two National Parks;
Making it easy to reach visitor attractions within the two National Parks;
Promoting travel by cycle, bus and rail to and around the National Parks;
Managing traffic effectively with the Parks, so that is does not detract from the visitors’ experience.
This will be achieved through a combination of infrastructure improvements together with the promotion of public transport, walking and cycling.
This will include creating cycle and walking routes to stations, upgrading bus and rail facilities and schemes to increase safety for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.
Hampshire County Council are looking for a Programme Delivery Manager and South Downes National Park Authority are now recruiting for a Project Manager, both posts require proven experience in delivering transport projects of this kind. In either role you will need
to demonstrate experience of delivering
measures within our proposals and be able to work within a partnership environment.
The Programme Delivery Manager will be responsible for the overall delivery of the project and will manage the workload of project manager based in the South Downs together with an
additional project manager in the New Forest, who will be in post shortly. This team of 3 will work closely together delivering the different elements of the project, with a wide range of
partners and stakeholders
