Purpose of job

 The role of ‘Molecular Diagnostician (Delivery Manager)’ involves working in the MTU team to deliver high throughput PCR-based testing of wide variety of organisms in support statutory surveys, commercial services and R&D projects. The key purpose of this job will be to take a lead role in the provision of molecular diagnostic tools, co-ordinate the day-to-day delivery of diagnostic work in the MTU and support technology transfer from R&D teams to frontline diagnostics.

The post holder will:

Co-ordinate and help deliver the day-to-day molecular diagnostic work in the MTU, helping to troubleshoot problems when they occur.

  • Manage MTU assistant diagnosticians and help promote flexible working practices within the team.
  • Ensure best practice in the lab and adherence to quality systems (ISO9001 and ISO17025).
  • Working with the MTU Technical Manager, to provide input into the validation and implementation of new diagnostic methods and processes in the MTU.
  • Help to meet target savings through the Continuous Improvement process.
