Description

30th August - 3rd September residential course

This course focuses on the practical use of mosses and liverworts in assessing the impact of climate change. Aspects of climate variation to be covered include rainfall, temperature, drought and air quality. Daily field excursions to identify key species and communities will be complemented by microscope work, use of identification keys and illustrated talks. Full use will be made of highly relevant local sites and species; you will have the opportunity to study oceanic bryophytes, epiphytic species and others of wetland habitats. Situated in the south west of Wales, Orielton provides an outstanding opportunity to see a wide range of common mosses and liverworts, as well as many that are special to this part of Britain These will then be considered in the wider context of Britain as a whole.
