Description: We invite applications for a Lectureship in Geophysics at the University of Southampton based within the School of Ocean and Earth Science. The School is located in a purpose-built waterfront campus at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (NOCS). We welcome applications from all areas of geophysics. Applicants should have strong research records that complement existing research strengths of the School.
You will be expected to establish an internationally recognised research profile supported by external research funding. You will also be expected to teach geophysics in undergraduate courses and to supervise research students. Research in geophysics at NOCS is underpinned by world-class facilities for controlled source electromagnetic sounding, ocean bottom seismology, sea floor imagery, high-resolution paleomagnetism and environmental magnetism, and the analysis of cores and other sea-bottom samples.
This permanent position is available from 1 October 2008 and the salary will be in the range of £28,290 to £31,840 per annum.
