Description

Do you remember seeing your first stickleback? Share in the excitement as a volunteer by assisting us to deliver our learning programme to visiting schools and other groups where typical activities include hands on exploration of meadows, woods and ponds and wildlife watching on the reserve.

Our professional Learning Team deliver exciting programmes of outdoor learning activities and our Learning Support Volunteers play an important role - helping to set up and clear away equipment, assisting small groups, being a back marker on walks and fulfilling many other essential background jobs to make group visits run smoothly.

The skills you need:

Essential skills/experience needed:
* A keen interest in wildlife, conservation and the environment
* An enthusiasm for outdoor education and a willingness to learn new skills
* A resourceful and flexible approach to be able to cope with a wide variety of ages and abilities of children
* Abundant enthusiasm and excellent communication skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with children of differing needs and levels of understanding.
* Ability to work as part of a busy team.
*  Good organisation skills.
* Computer literacy - ability to use e-mail, internet, word processing

Desirable skills/experience:
* Some ecological knowledge of habitat types would be an advantage
* Some knowledge of the local history of the area would be an advantage

Appropriate training, tools and equipment will be provided and expenses will be reimbursed where necessary.
