15 x Graduate Researcher

The Centre for Global Eco-Innovation is searching for fifteen graduate level research consultants. You will work at the interface of industry and academia, conducting applied research projects and managing a series of stakeholders. All of our projects aim to address global and societal issues and link with innovative and growing companies. These projects allow candidates to gain a Masters degree from Lancaster University whilst undertaking the research. 

All of our projects begin October 2018 and will last for 12 months. Successful candidates will receive a £15,000 tax-free stipend. These projects are part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and cover a variety of themes outlined below.

Recycling and waste management 

Deriving value from waste and promoting a transition to a circular economy is one of the greatest challenges of the current generation. We cannot keep taking, using and discarding valuable materials. Join us now and work with businesses across the North West to reduce waste to landfill and increase the reuse and recycling of key materials. 

Energy technology 

If we are to experience a low carbon and sustainable future, the way in which we generate, use and store energy must be reconsidered. At the Centre, we are researching into renewable energy technologies to improve efficiency and create product innovations. The ability to store generated power in battery technology is equally important, as are robust and resilient distribution networks. Low carbon transport 

The vehicle market is rapidly changing and we need to work hard to produce innovative technologies, achieve efficiencies and facilitate behavioural change. Forecasts show that there could be over 9 million electric vehicles in use by 2030. In the meantime, the UK’s rail network remains inefficient and difficult to maintain. Transport is one of the fastest growing contributors to climate change. Join us now to help address these issues as part of a wider research programme.
