Who is the course for?

The course is designed for anyone working in or considering working in the field of primate conservation, or others simply wishing to gain a detailed up to date understanding of this topic (e.g. educators). You will develop your knowledge of the latest primate conservation theory, and gain key practical skills.

What is the course content?

The course will include the following key topics:
•Latest state of primate taxonomy
•Current research on threats to primates
•The role of primates in ecosystems services
•Prioritising conservation for primates
•Conservation strategies and research techniques for primates
•Ex-situ management of primates for conservation
•What does the future hold for primates?
•Balancing the needs of human and non-human primates
•Career opportunities in primate conservation

Who is running the course?

The course is run in conjunction with primate conservation practitioners within Durrell, and key external experts. A limited number of opportunities will be available for course participants to gain practical primate husbandry experience alongside the course. Please ask for further information.

Where will the course be run?

The course will be based at Durrell Conservation Academy at Durrell’s headquarters in Jersey, British Channel Islands.

What is the cost?

The course fee is £750 (discounted to £600 if paid at least 8 weeks in advance). Optional full board accommodation is available in our on site hostel or wildlife camp.
