Laboratory Environmental Manager

The post holder will:-

• Monitor and evidence laboratory environmental conditions, containment and compliance
• Work in partnership with the science teams to monitor and ensure environmental compliance is maintained, through staff training and awareness, of potential impacts from laboratory activities
• Manage Fera’s ISO14001 Environmental Management System
• Manage the delivery of Fera’s sustainability action plan
• Responsible for the delivery of Fera’s sustainability ministerial targets
• Management of operational staff behaviour change programme to achieve positive staff behaviours with respect to maintaining sustainability and environmental improvement efficiencies and savings
• Conduct regular waste, water and energy audits to identify future efficiency opportunities
• Provide technical and practical advice and offer training on energy efficiency and waste minimisation
• Monitor, verify, agree and report actual monthly utilities consumption
• Support science delivery projects that impact the environmental and sustainability performance of Fera, by providing guidance for new capital investment and projects work.
• Challenging Investment Committee proposals, scoping of feasibility briefs and attending design team meetings with respect to environmental and sustainability performance.
