FEEM encourages applications to join a team that is engaged in analysing a wide range of issues about climate and energy economics, such as economic modelling of climate and energy policies, technological progress in the context of energy technologies, socio-economic drivers of energy demand in developing economies, the relation between energy and development, the functioning of global energy markets etc.

Requirements
Senior candidates should have a Ph.D. in economics, or in energy engineering/mathematics/physics coupled with a solid economic background, and experience in applied research on environmental and energy issues.
Junior candidates should be recent graduates or young PhD students with strong quantitative skills and numerical literacy, with an interest in pursuing research in energy and climate. An aptitude towards modeling and programming complex situations (e.g. using GAMS/Matlab) is an important requisite.

The selected candidate will interact with researchers of different nationalities, and have the chance to present scientific papers at several conferences and workshops. Part of the activities are realized in the context of European research projects.

FEEM offers a truly international and interdisciplinary workplace. The strong ties with a world-wide network of research institutions engaged in environmental research and in particular on the analysis of climate change issues allows a continuous fruitful exchange of experiences. A full range of FEEM activities is available at www.feem.it.

The successful candidate is expected to begin his/her assignment in 2011. The appointment period can be up to 3 years, with an evaluation after the first one. Gross salary is competitive and will be based on qualification and experience. Duties will be carried out at the FEEM premises either in Milan or Venice, Italy.
