This moss identification course is designed to introduce students to field bryology and will include teaching familiarity with the characteristics of the main groups of mosses and liverworts, basic identification of common species. There will be a mixture of fieldwork (with guidance on how to collect, observe and record in the field) and laboratory sessions, plus talks on identification, use of keys and microscopy.
