Forum for the Future is now recruiting an Innovation Intern to be based in London. The key focus will be supporting our Innovation work:
- to capture the results and impacts of a small number of significant sustainable innovation projects, to help build a compelling case for sustainable innovation in business and the public sector
- to support our innovation work in the food system by researching sustainable food claims and commitments and how these are communicated, and successful business models for growing and using food on a local / community scale
You will work closely with the team during your internship and will receive supervision to define and carry out the research, and communicate the findings. Within this supporting framework, you will be able to use your initiative and take responsibility for completing one or two research projects.
1. Job Summary This position will provide research and multi-media support to the innovation team. Tasks will include:
- qualitative and quantitative research to investigate the results of specific, Forum for the Future sustainable innovation projects
- working with communications staff to present the findings in informative and exciting ways
- research into sustainable food claims, communication and business models to support our innovation work in the food system.
Further desk-based research and general support on an ad hoc basis may also be required.
2. Responsibilities
- Conduct and analyse in-depth research to evaluate one or two of Forum for the Future’s sustainable innovation projects
- Plan and conduct research into how leading organisations communicate their commitments on sustainable food
- Plan and conduct research into existing case studies of growing and using food on a local scale
- Clearly and compellingly communicating the findings for internal use, and to engage public and private sector audiences
- Other activities as may be reasonably required

4. Person Specification
- An understanding of sustainable development is desirable
- Educational background in design and ability to use design software such as Illustrator would be beneficial
- An interest in applying sustainable development through innovation to food and the public sector
- Experience of user-centred design and/ or innovation methods would be a benefit
- A commitment to the values and mission of Forum for the Future
- Excellent, demonstrable qualitative and quantitative research and analysis skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Well organised, able to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Able to follow instructions and be self-motivating
- Able to work in a team environment
- Good relationship management skills, with a confident approach
This internship is for three months, full or part-time and is based in London. Travel expenses within London and lunch will be reimbursed.
