Description

26/07/14

A brief introduction to non-native invasive species including the well-known Japanese knotweed, as well as its less familiar relatives. Other plant groups of concern, including invasive water plants, will also be covered. The course will also explore similar native species that may be present or confused with invasive taxa. Using sites in and around The Regent’s Park.

The exact structure of this course will be highly dependent upon what plants are available; unpredictable events such as street weed cleaning or development of brown field sites can make for a botanical lottery!

By the end of this course participants will have:
- Become more familiar with some key non-natives of relevance to conservation and the Wildlife and Countryside Act, particularly submerged aquatics.
- Improved their general botanical identification skills.
