Designed for anyone with professional or amateur interests in natural history, this course introduces the identification and ecology of these curious organisms, which are part alga and part fungus, concentrating on their growth forms, reproductive strategies and habitat requirements.

A combination of illustrated talks, field excursions, microscope work and use of keys will help you to develop confidence in basic identification skills and learn about the ecology of lichens and their usefulness as indicator species.
