24th - 27th June residential course.
This bat identification course provides an introduction to the fascinating world of bats and the ways of detecting and identifying the British species. Through laboratory and outdoor sessions students will learn about bat behaviour, ecology and conservation. Identification skills will be developed through examination of preserved (and possibly live) specimens and use of a key. There will be daytime visits to survey for potential and actual bat roosts and a complementary evening visits to a local well used roost. There will be opportunities to listen to and watch bats using bat detectors.
