Fixed Term Contract initially until 31 March 2015 (likely extension to 31 March 2016 to be confirmed)

Full Time - 37 hours per week

Based at Bognor Regis Town Hall with hot-desking at Arun Civic Centre, Littlehampton and East Pallant House, Chichester

In order to tackle fuel poverty in a practical and effective way, Arun and Chichester District Wellbeing programmes wish to recruit a Home Energy Visitor.  The postholder will support the alleviation of fuel poverty across both Districts by visiting eligible residents in their homes or providing telephone advice, to promote behaviour change and improve energy efficiency, with advice on reducing fuel bills and the installation of practical measures.

The postholder will have proven experience of delivering energy efficiency or affordable warmth advice direct to members of the public, and have an understanding of fuel poverty and the link between cold homes and poor health.  They will understand issues relating to deprived areas and disadvantaged people, and be confident in referring individuals to other agencies.  They will have an understanding of fuel bills and tariff comparison, and be able to analyse data to target service delivery.

Arun and Chichester Wellbeing have been commissioned by the West Sussex Department of Public Health to develop a prevention and wellbeing programme for adults of all ages, with a particular focus on those services that support behaviour change in people with increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease and cancer.  The programmes comprise a core team providing information and motivational support, as well as a number of additional, local projects delivered either in-house or externally.  This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring check, and is hosted by Arun District Council.

For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Hazel Flack, Partnership Manager, on 01903 737609.
