Head of UK Commercial Project Development

We have experienced significant growth over recent years and we face exciting new challenges in the future across our expanding portfolio.  

We are looking for a Head of UK Commercial Project Development to join our UK Project Development department and you will be based at our London office in the UK.  You should also expect some travelling to our other offices and partner sites across the UK and to North West Europe, primarily Denmark.  

Areas of responsibility 

As Head of UK Commercial Project Development, you will be responsible for commercial management of our offshore wind farm projects in the development phrase. The function is responsible for the business case, commercial agreements and JV Management.

Furthermore, your key duties will include:

  • ensure that all necessary commercial agreements are in place:such as grid connection agreements and grid liabilities, offshore property, onshore property, crossing agreements, (and 3rd party commercial agreements, amongst others)
  • responsible for Joint Venture (JV) management in the development phase, maintain strong relations with partners and handle JV related issues
  • responsible for managing the project business case in the development phase in close relation with internal stakeholders, coordinating specialist financial and technical inputs and identifying and implementing improvement levers
  • manage the commercial project development team
  • drive internal approval processes on commercial and project related input to senior management teams and steering committees.

 

Your profile 

It is expected that you will be educated to degree level or equivalent within a relevant discipline e.g. Business, Legal or Economics.  You will have a commercial and engineering understanding and you will ideally have a MSc qualification in a Finance, Business or Legal discipline.

It is essential that you will have considerable experience within the energy sector, preferably in offshore wind projects.  A legal, consulting, large corporation or investment banking background will be advantageous. You will have prior experience in contract negotiation with major stakeholders coupled with line manager experience.  Ideally, you will have experience working in JVs and partnerships.  

You will have solid financial and legal skills, including understanding of contractual terms and project value drivers.  Furthermore, you will have advanced negotiation skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  In addition you will have a strong drive and demonstrate an ability to simultaneously run parallel processes and you will demonstrate strong leadership and motivational skills.
