Head of Programme (AD889)Business and Biodiversity | Permanent, full-time, Technical/Professional LeadershipSalary depending on skills and experience Closing date: 2015-04-24 WCMC is now recruiting for a permanent Head of Programme to oversee our business and biodiversity activities. This key position, reporting to the Director of Programmes, will lead a team working to a) strengthen the way that the private sector understands, avoids and mitigates its impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem services, particularly focused on companies with a direct on-ground footprint; and b) to support least-developed countries in the development and implementation of policy and legislation that will allow them to regulate the extractive activities of corporate business.This opportunity provides you with a role where you can lead the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships and the delivery of a portfolio of high quality projects that contribute to achieving the mission of UNEP-WCMC. You will hold a postgraduate qualification (MSc or higher) in biological or environmental sciences, geography or a related discipline together with experience of working in or alongside the private sector and will have a strong contemporary understanding of biodiversity in an international business context. You will be experienced at motivating and leading a team to ensure the effective functioning of a multi-faceted, results-focused programme operating at the interface between biodiversity science, policy and management. Furthermore, you will have an understanding of the essential characteristics of successful partnership-building and will be able to demonstrate the ability to capture external resources and to work collaboratively.
