14/06/14
This course provides an introduction to conserving habitats for bees, beetles, flies and other insects. Using a mix of classroom exercises, presentations and fieldwork, we will explore habitat features that are important for insects, and look at methods for monitoring these features. Although the course is not primarily focused on insect identification, guidance on any insects we find will be given.
The course is aimed at anyone with an interest in conserving habitats for insects - no expertise required - and especially for those working in natures reserves, or other land sites, wishing to promote biodiversity.
Information given on how to assess existing species lists for conservation purposes and how to monitor habitats for insects.
Course times are 09.45 to 16.00 and includes a free FSC guide 'Guide to Insects of the British Isles'. Please bring a packed lunch.
