Purpose of the job

To work towards the profitable expansion of existing and new Groundwork environmental projects and programmes into the four counties of North West Wales: Conwy, Denbighshire, Anglesey and Gwynedd, as specified in the Trust’s business plan.

This purpose will be achieved through building partnerships across North West Wales and developing new project ideas and funding streams across the Region. 

We now require a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team and develop Green Spaces projects and programmes across North West Wales.

We are looking for the successful candidate to build enough new business to sustain the post and build a new team in the long term.

 

This post will be based at the Caernarfon Office of Groundwork North Wales, although home based working could be considered.   The post will report to the Employment Manager with day to liason with the Environment Manager.  It will be  part of the Green Spaces team in Caernarfon.  

Summary of main responsibilities

 

  • To work towards the development of a Green Spaces team based in North West Wales.

 

  • To establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with other Groundwork staff, particularly the Environment, Finance and other Business Development staff across Wales, to ensure high quality and rapid development of all appropriate opportunities.

 

  • To assist in the creation, sharing, planning and organising of innovative ideas for potential projects, such that they can be realised in a practical, profitable and timely way as products and services provided by the Trust.

  • To be aware of existing and new funding opportunities (public and private) and assist the Trust to submit high quality, timely bids and tenders and generate income as required by the Trust’s business plan.

 

  • Work with community groups, residents associations, business representatives and schools to develop engaging ways for all sectors of a community to become involved in initiating, planning and delivering environment projects and initiatives.

 

  • Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues, partners, potential partners, clients and consultants, creating opportunities to develop joint projects and develop new working partnerships.

 

  • Network effectively to establish and sustain the Trust’s partnerships with other organisations, agencies and initiatives in the community, voluntary and public sectors across North West Wales.

 

  • Identify and develop opportunities for volunteers, work placements and trainees, to enable them to become practically involved in the improvement and management of their local environment. 

 

  • To organise meetings and complete all necessary administrative and record keeping tasks related to business development, bid-writing and contract management.

 

  • Prioritise workload and show initiative to ensure deadlines are met and tasks are carried out effectively.

 

  • Attend and contribute to team and project meetings as required. 

 

  • Assist the Environment Manager and Finance Manager in strategic planning and the preparation of Business Plans.

 

  • To assist the Trust staff in ensuring projects, products and services are delivered in a high quality, profitable way through robust budgeting, people and project management.

 

  • To assist with the continued development and promotion of the Trust to key opinion formers, funders, partners and clients across North Wales.

Other duties

  • To support other Groundwork activities and take on other duties as reasonably requested, to help individuals and communities to change their own lives, through engaging them in physical, environmental activities, across North Wales.

 

  • Ensure compliance with the Trust’s Health & Safety Policy and other established procedures of Groundwork at all times.

Conditions of Service

The appointment will be made subject to the Groundwork North Wales detailed terms and conditions of employment.  Candidates should be aware that:

 

a)         The offer of appointment will be made subject to the receipt of satisfactory references.

 

b)         This position is subject to the Criminal Records Bureau check

 

c)         This post is permanent subject to continuation of funding.

 

d)         The person appointed will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months, with an interim review at 1 and 3 months and a final review at 6 months.

 

e)         The postholder will be required to give 1 months notice to terminate the appointment.

 

f)          The working week is 37.5 hours and flexibility is required where some of these may be outside the normal working day i.e.: at evenings or weekends.  Groundwork North Wales operate a flexi system.

 

g)         The holiday entitlement will be 25 days, plus 3 concessionary days between Christmas and the New Year, plus Bank Holidays.  If part time these will be on a pro rata basis.

 

h)         A full driving license is essential and the postholder will be required to provide a vehicle for use in connection with his/her work.

 

i)          Groundwork North Wales operate a no smoking policy within its premises.
