Job Summary:

An exciting new opportunity has just been released by a highly prestigious, leading multidisciplinary consultancy who is currently seeking a Hydraulic Modelling Engineer to join their team of professionals in the Sheffield office.

As a proactive and dedicated Graduate, you will have the opportunity to work with a range talented professionals including designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services to public and private sector clients both in the UK and overseas.

You could get involved with our client’s exciting and high profile projects as wide ranging as whole cities or river catchments, down to individual developments.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

The successful Hydraulic Modelling Engineer will:

  • Carry out hydraulic modelling studies and work with GIS models under supervision.
  • Compile technical reports
  • Check and maintain the quality and accuracy of your own and others’ work.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues, and collaborators and clients on a range of projects.
  • Take responsibility for defined parts of modelling projects.
  • Take responsibility for organising events, activities, processes, and/or small internal business projects.

Qualifications / Experience:

The successful Hydraulic Modelling Engineer will have:

  • The appropriate education including a degree in an engineering related subject.
  • Technical knowledge in drainage design, utilities design and civil engineering.
  • Chartered membership of a professional body or desire to work towards Chartership.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to write clear concise reports and solve numerical problems.
  • An ability and/or desire to work within a multidisciplinary team whilst managing both your own and others time and meeting agreed deadlines and budgets.
  • Experience in the use of hydraulic design software packages (e.g. MicroDrainage, Infoworks, ISIS etc) would be an advantage.
  • Developing interest in BIM and conducting design in a 3D environment.
  • Working knowledge of CAD (e.g. Bentley MicroStation/AutoCAD) software and ideally competent in the use of GIS (e.g. ArcGIS) software.
  • Client focused and commercially minded with experience in the preparation of bids and tenders.
