Job Summary:

 

Following their continued growth and team successes, this leading consultancy is looking to expand their team to support the delivery of a variety of projects in the Rivers and Coastal sector. They are seeking to appoint a Graduate and Consultant Ecologist to join their dynamic team in Bristol or Basingstoke.

 

These are fantastic opportunities to become part of the expansion process and to help the company maintain and grow its position as a leading supplier to both public and private sector clients.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

As a Graduate Ecologist you will:

  • Undertake ecological surveying and reporting;
  • Assist with the day to day management of team activities;
  • Provide ecological advice;
  • Strike a balanced approach towards environmental/ ecological risk management to benefit both the needs of the client and nature conservation interests;
  • Assist with and add value to the delivery and development of the company’s ecological services;
  • Provide assistance with the preparation of bids and general business development activities.

 

Joining our client’s team at Consultant grade, you will also;

  • Manage a variable portfolio of both environmental and ecological work;
  • Liaise with clients and subconsultants;
  • Prepare and complete a wide range of ecology surveys and provide input to design;
  • Contribute to the development of the rapidly expanding business, including the preparation of bids.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

As a Graduate Ecologist you will have:

  • Degree in relevant field / sector
  • Graduate CIEEM Membership
  • Experience in habitat surveys and protected species surveys, particularly with Phase 1 Habitat surveys
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Clean driving licence
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of bidding and job winning processes is desirable

 

To attain Consultant level status you will have:

  • Proof of working towards Chartered status of CIEEM
  • Proven experience in undertaking protected species surveys (ideally riparian / aquatic)
  • Experience in preparing EPS licence applications
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of ecological legislation and current best practice / policy
  • Knowledge and working practise of EIA processes
  • Experience in the design and implementation of ecological mitigation
  • Coastal / intertidal ecological survey experience
  • Experience with GIS packages
  • An understanding of the Highways Agency Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
