    Due to sustained growth and a promising order book, one of the country’s leading authorities in the water industry is looking to strengthen their Cardiff team with an ambitious and motivated Flood Risk Consultant. In addition to candidates with some existing employment experience our client is in a position to consider graduates with demonstrable flood risk knowledge. If you come from a numerate, scientific or engineering academic background and are looking to kick start your career in flood risk consultancy then we’d like to hear from you. 

     

    The team currently provides a wide range of hydrological, water quality and aquatic habitat consultancy services with a focus on flood risk assessment, environmental impact assessment and water resources hydrology.  In this role you will have the opportunity to work with clients across a range of sectors including house building and commercial development, power and transport infrastructure and regulatory agencies

    Responsibilities:

     

    The flood risk consultant will:

    • Prepare and undertake Flood Risk Assessments
    • Undertake flood hydrological assessments and hydraulic modelling (including 2D modelling)
    • Liaise with clients and local authority contacts as projects require
    • Progress to the management of smaller projects including responsibilities for quality, budget and programme.

     

     

    Qualifications / Experience:

     

    The successful flood risk consultant will have:

    • A good first degree (numerate, scientific of engineering discipline essential)
    • A relevant post graduate qualification (preferable)
    • Demonstrable knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modelling, ideally including 2D modelling and the use of GIS packages.
    • Knowledge of SUDS  (desirable)
      • Excellent report writing skills, with an aptitude for project management and business development tasks.
    • Familiarity with flood risk regulation requirements and the consultancy working environment.
