Areas of responsibility

As GIS Specialist you will take ownership for providing GIS data support to all phases of the company’s offshore wind farm projects in the UK, whilst working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

Furthermore, your key duties will include:

  • responsible for the daily GIS work and data management in relation to all phases of designated wind farm projects including; information and data collection, spatial analysis of data, production of documentation such as maps, spread sheets and data files and maintaining a web-based ArcGIS Server solution for an assigned project
  • ensure all spatial data for the relevant projects are collected, quality checked, structured and secured in our Geosciences geodatabase
  • provide ad hoc GIS data support for other UK projects and to the UK Crown Estate as required. 


Your profile

It is expected that you will have a Bachelor degree or equivalent within a relevant discipline such as  Geography, Geology or Engineering.  It is essential that you have knowledge of GIS and its use in the UK.  Knowledge of the UK geographical coordinates system and prior experience in interpreting geotechnical and geophysical data is advantageous. 

You will demonstrate extensive experience working with GIS.  You will have prior experience in using GIS for a variety of purposes, from conducting analysis to loading data and using web-based GIS solutions.  You will have proven experience working with spatial databases and experience of providing GIS data for UK regulatory and government bodies. 

Prior experience in using ArcGIS (ArcMap, ArcCatalog,  ArcGlobe, ArcGIS Server) and ESRI geodatabases  is advantageous. In addition, you will preferably have prior experience working with GIS within an engineering environment.  Furthermore, an insight in authority processes and public data sources in the UK will be advantageous.

It is essential that you will demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritise your work load.  In addition, you will have a structured and meticulous approach to work and display good communication skills coupled with a service minded attitude.  Furthermore, you will be a proactive, loyal team player, with a result orientated and responsible approach. 

It is expected that you will have a willingness to travel independently to meetings and other sites across the UK and to Denmark as required.
