Wild Futures is a registered charity (number 1102532) based at the Monkey Sanctuary just outside Looe, South East Cornwall. Its aims are the conservation of wildlife and the environment, particularly primates, and the education of the public about conservation and animal welfare issues.
The charity is seeking to recruit a Finance Officer/Company Secretary who will be responsible (with the Head of Strategic Development) for the management and administration of the charity's finances.
The successful candidate will liaise with the Head of Strategic Development on key financial matters. They will also have a responsibility to keep abreast of financial and charitable sector changes which may affect the charity and provide regular financial management information to the team and Trustees.
Wild Futures is entering an exciting period of development, and this role provides a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised individual to become a key member of the team involved in the growth and development of this charity.
This is a full time, 5 day per week role. The salary is, based on 37 hours per week, £13,000 gross per annum with flexible holidays (30 days per year). There will be an initial 3 month probation period, with full contractual rights.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of the charity's book-keeping including (but not limited to) ? day to day management and processing of all financial transactions ? budget forecasting and monitoring ? bank and petty cash reconciliations ? VAT returns ? preparation and administration of staff wages including statutory payments ? preparation of year end accounts
Act as a point of contact for all financial and business related matters including liaising with the charity accountant and auditor.
Provide regular financial management information to the Managers and Trustees
Liaise with the Head of Strategic Development on financial matters and keep abreast of financial and charitable sector changes which may affect the charity
Actively work to improve the charity's financial management systems
Develop a working knowledge of the charity's aims and objectives
Act as liaison with Trustees including meeting correspondence and attendance
Essential Requirements
Experience of working in a similar financial role
Experience of working effectively as part of a team within a busy office environment.
Excellent computer literacy, advanced knowledge of excel essential.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills
Familiarity with project and budget monitoring
Ability to act on own initiative
Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities and an ability to identify and act on priorities and delegate where appropriate
Good written and communication skills
A current valid driving licence.
