Location: Scottsdale Reserve, 75km South of Canberra, NSW This is an exceptional opportunity to make a very real contribution to the protection of Australia’s unique wildlife and their habitat. “Bush Heritage acquires and manages land of outstanding conservation value and works in partnership with other landowners. With 35 reserves across the nation totaling almost 1 million hectares, and a further 2.5 million hectares protected in partnership with Indigenous and agricultural land owners, this organisation excels in delivering tangible conservation results. Established in 1991, Bush Heritage is primarily funded by donations from individuals and philanthropic sources.” The Field Officer Scottsdale will be responsible for the day to day reserve operations. This will be primarily weed control, pest animal control and revegetation work with both contractor and volunteer supervision. Additionally the position provides regional support to SE NSW reserves on an as needs basis. This is a hands-on role requiring a high level of autonomy, ingenuity and problem solving skills. The position requires knowledge and experience of land management, and practical repair and maintenance skills. Experience in land and conservation management problem solving are required, and working with Indigenous people in land management would be highly regarded. Under direction from the Healthy Landscape Manager South East NSW the Field Officer Scottsdale is responsible for the safe undertaking of daily reserve management activities that include:
In conjunction with volunteer activities, overnight camping on reserve (in shed with basic facilities) is a requirement of this role for up to four nights at a time on a regular basis.
