Job title: Field Ecologist Assistant 

Location: London/S. Essex

Salary: £8.30 ph

Term: Temporary contract until Oct 2013

Summary:

We have an opportunity for an ambitious early career ecologist, to join the field team of a leading ecological consultancy.  If you are educated to degree level in an environmental related discipline and have good experience of ecological survey and mitigation, then we’d like to hear from you.   Current field survey requirements mean that we are particularly interested to hear from candidates with good access to southern Essex. 

Responsibilities:

The role of the Field Ecologist Assistant will be varied but duties may include;

  • Trapping and translocation of reptiles and amphibians;
  • Assisting with reptile and great crested newt surveys;
  • Ecological Watching Briefs;
  • Breeding birds surveys;
  • Data collection and recording in the field. 

Qualifications / Experience:

 

Successful applicants will have;

  • A relevant first degree;
  • Demonstrable experience of ecological survey and mitigation;
  • Proven field work skills;
  • Good native reptile identification skills;
  • Ability to identify habitats and indicator plant species;
  • Willingness to travel to south Essex and work during evenings and at weekends as the project requires;
  • A full UK driving licence.
