The Position
We are seeking an Executive Director for a minimum 3-year term. The Executive Director will be responsible for all management aspects of the organisation. S/he will motivate and manage a small team of experts (permanent staff, contractors and trainees) on energy efficiency in buildings and will allocate resources as necessary to achieve the strategy. The team will prepare and disseminate best practice information, encouraging the adoption and implementation of appropriate buildings energy performance policies in the EU and across its Member States.
The Executive Director will lead BPIE in its role as the European regional hub of the Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) and will be viewed as a key resource and collaborator with the other regional hubs in GBPN, with other ClimateWorks Network partners, as well as with other energy efficiency networks within Europe.
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Existing working relationships with European energy efficiency stakeholders in the buildings sector at EU and Member State-level. Also with international experts in this field, demonstrating an ability to effectively use these networks.
- Knowledge of the processes and players critical for setting policy within Europe on energy efficiency in buildings.
- Sufficient technical knowledge of buildings energy efficiency to be an “informed customer” of technical input.
- Experience in managing teams, involving both internal staff and external contractors. Managing contracts with partners and delivering timely, high quality outputs.
- A successful track record of managing collaborative ventures. <
- Experience in securing funding from varied sources.
- Fluency in English and good knowledge of at least one other European language
Compensation
This is a key appointment and the salary and remuneration package will reflect that and your experience. The post is full time.

BPIE is located in Brussels at the European Climate Foundation offices at Rue de Stassart 48.
Starting Date
There is a clear and pressing need to fill this post as soon as possible. Alternate start dates are negotiable.
