Description

Groundwork South West is pleased to announce that we are now offering Environmental Conservation Apprenticeships to 16 to18 year olds in the Exeter area leading to an Environmental Conservation Diploma (work based) Level 2.

Based on a 21 week programme for 26 hours per week, apprentices will receive £85 per week and will learn a variety of skills. These will include working on local nature reserves, National Trust estates, country parks and community green spaces. Tasks will be varied but may include woodland management, habitat improvement, path maintenance and repair, fence construction, dry stone walling, animal and habitat surveys, pond clearance and waterways. Apprentices will also complete a First Aid course. Transport to locations will be supplied by Groundwork South west with a minibus picking up from and returning to Exeter bus station.

(Due to the nature of the work apprentices must be prepared to work in ALL weather conditions when protective clothing will be supplied.)

To apply for these apprenticeships applicants should be 16 –18 years old, at Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy at the start of the programme and be committed to completing the apprenticeship along with the associated qualification portfolios and key skills level 2 numeracy and literacy.

In return, apprentices will gain valuable work experience and qualifications to apply for career opportunities in countryside management and wildlife conservation at a junior level, for example, assistant warden or nature reserve assistant. Apprentices may also consider progressing on to level 3 qualifications.
