Job Summary:

One of the UK’s largest and most prestigious environmental consultancies is looking to expand their nationwide presence in Rail by recruiting both experienced and entry level Environmental and Consents Managers.

You will be involved in some of the most exciting projects available in the British rail sector including Crossrail and HS2. While working within these projects you will have the opportunity to take part in the full range of environmental services from design to delivery. You will work collaboratively with other professionals and teams to implement innovative systems and drive environmental excellence and wider project efficiency.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

The successful Environmental and Consents Manager will:

  • Compile and present sustainability, environmental and consents performance reports
  • Work with statutory consultees, interest groups and the general public
  • Work collaboratively to implement the Environmental Management Plan and other management plans.
  • Lead the project team, including assisting with environmental awareness training of professional staff, construction managers and operatives
  • Understand the client’s sustainability and environmental policies, objectives and more detailed requirements and make sure they are implemented
  • Manage and co-ordinate the preparation of relevant environmental management plans and other associated documentation
  • Carry out environmental audits of designs and construction activities
  • Identify what consents are required and manage the programme for obtaining consents
  • Prepare applications, working with a range of technical specialists
  • Manage and co-ordinate the consent application and discharge of conditions throughout construction

 Qualifications / Experience:

  • A good appreciation of environmental issues associated with construction in the rail sector e.g. ecology, noise, air quality
  • Professional membership preferable e.g. MIEMA or equivalent
  • CSCS card and PTS certificate in addition to a good understanding of construction site health and safety
  • Experience within an Environmental Manager or Consents Manager role previously (rail project experience essential)

Successful candidates may also come from an EIA background but experience in the rail sector is essential.  On offer is a competitive salary (depending on experience) as well as a flexible benefits program and extensive opportunities for training and personal development.
